OnLive is hardware independent since all processing is done server side. You’re just streaming to your console what the server sends out.

However, recent hands-on experience with OnLive has proved it laggy.

but here is a question. what if it does happen? do the systems we have now support the processor speed and gpu set up for the games cause if not then doing the onlive thing wont work and will be a waste of time but if the x720 has the processor and the gpu then all should be well with that console.

O forgot to mention M$ $ony and nintendo have stated they will not be allowing their games onto onlive.
meaning well, this idea is moot.
thats going to hurt onlive big time, if they cant get M$ $ony or ninty published games well than that restricted their library and 99% of the time those are the best ones.
dont get my wrong, multiplatform games can be good like assassins creed 2 its my favorite game for this gen!
not this year.

only problem is theres still allot of people that dont have access to high speed internet.
6 of my friends are still using dial up internet because there working and spending all their cash on uni.
making the next generation streaming only your effectively cutting your fanbase.
thats the last thing you want to do (SONY!)
speed is a problem, but theres a much larger problem.
bandwidth.
me, i have a quite fast net connection but i only have 15GB monthly download usage.
how long will i be able to stream crysis warhead till im over that?
till ADSL2+ speeds are the norm, meaning everyone has access to them.
and till unlimited download usages are the norm, meaning everyone has access to them its not going to happen.
i personally love being able to turn on my ps3 or PSP and download a game, but when that incurs going over my download usage than slows down my internet so i cant surf the web.
i dont love it as much.

It is crucial to have the necessary infrastructure to support this service. I read somewhere that to get 1080p you must have a 5 mbps connection and for SD a 1.5 mbps connection. Now not everyone has such high speed internet

Been following the events around Onlive and while it sounds (and looks) phenomenal, there are still too many flaws (the internet being one of the worst of them) that can severely cripple the whole idea. However, if someone as big and powerful as Microsoft decides to back it up, there is a huge chance this thing to hit the spot. And there will be no turning back…
