Games will tell you that it can’t operate in 3D and while playing 3D blu-ray discs you’ll get the following error message “This blu ray disc requires 3D player connected to a 3D display.”

The fix is as simple as changing a setting.

1. While in the PS3′s XMB/menu go to Settings>Display Settings>Video Output Settings

2. Run through the Automatic Detection Process and it should detect your 3D display

3. Enjoy your games and movies in 3D!

We all know that Amazon US does not ship these items to Bangladesh. However, there is a US company called Myusabox which is a mail forwarding company. I use this company and subscribe to US video game magazines each month, and often import original games that I don’t find in Bangladesh.

Here is how it works: once you sign up with Myusabox, they give you a US New York address. When shopping with Amazon tell them to ship to the New York address provided by Myusabox.

Once Myusabox receives your item, they will ship it to you via FedEx/DHL. They also provide a tracking number and items usually take around 4 days to arrive in Bangladesh. One note though, you have to pay customs tax on whatever you import.

Here’s how to get your Myusabox account up and running:

1. Head to Myusabox and register

2. You will be charged a one time fee of $15. This will be credited back to your account, so you can use it towards your shipping cost.

3. You will be given an address in the following format:

You can even shop from other online retailers, not only Amazon. However, some online retailers require your billing and shipping address to be the same, in which case you cannot use them.

The guys who made the original PS3 Jailbreak has released PS3 Downgrade which allows you to downgrade your PS3 firmware.

You can order the PS3 Downgrade which is the authorized dealer, but you also need the original PS3 Jailbreak for this to work.

The “PS Downgrade is not a new chip, but it is the much anticipated software update to the original PSJailbreak chip. The update will be available for customers who have a valid serial, of the original PSJailbreak chip.”

How it works is that you order the software and download it to your PC. You connect the original PS3 Jailbreak to your PC and update it.

You can then use it to downgrade your PS3′s firmware. However, note that it is one-time only. Meaning you cannot use it downgrade your PS3 firmware more than once.

The PS3 downgrade does not modify your PS3 and you can update to the latest firmware anytime.

I’ve had this problem, but luckily I often save manually and only had to about 30 minutes of back-tracking. To save you a world of misery, here’s how you can avoid corrupting your save game:

Fix # 1: The success I’ve had is by killing Harland the ghoul. You can still complete his optional side-quest about tracking down her friend. When you hand in the quest, make sure to kill him before he makes it out of the room.

Fix # 2: Picking up the “Space Suit” can corrupt your save game but not always. To be on the safe side, leave the Space Suit alone. In my case, picking up the Space Suit did not corrupt the save game.

Fix # 3: The corrupt game save file bug may be related to faction scoring. Go away, do a quest that alters your reputation with another faction, and then re-try the mission.

Fix # 4: Sometimes a save file from inside the room where you launch the rockets will become corrupt and crash the game if you try to load it. So, make sure you save while in another place.

Another bug: If you decide to help both Harlan the ghoul and Davison of the Nightkin, there is a bug which will make Davison turn hostile while you are handing in your Stealthboy quest to him. This usually happens if you have followers with you.

Some had success by telling the followers to wait outside the room, waiting 24 hours and then telling him again.

When Davison turns hostile, run away until you are far enough to wait. Wait 24 hours. After that, Davison will be standing next to you and will be friendly allowing you to hand in your quest.

I just went up and killed him.

“360 restarts while playing games (even when it is idle) and [the DVD] drive wont respond. It shows open tray in the dash board (even [when] there is a game disc) and [the] eject button wont work at all. [The] middle green light blinks as like it will eject but nothing [happens]. At first after a few restarts i [could] play games, but after some weeks it wont work [that] way. I can play again after some days.”

To summarise, the problem that you’re having is:

- The middle green light flashes
- DVD unable to eject
- console restarts half-way through game
- console restarts at dashboard.

A very peculiar problem indeed. First off, I’m going with the official Microsoft solution: “This issue may occur for several reasons, including the Xbox 360 HDD is not installed correctly.”

So, first of all make take out your 360 HDD and make sure to re-seat it properly. You can also try playing without the HDD and see if it helps.

However there are some cases similar to your problem and sad to say there isn’t a clear cut solution.

The majority verdict seems to point that the DVD drive inside your 360 is dying or overheating, so make sure you’re playing in a well ventilated space.

It could also be the power and data cable to your DVD drive is not connected properly. Those can also be damaged due to the mod.

The lens in the DVD drive could also be failing. It is best if you can take it to a shop and have them check it out.

The flashing green light in the middle indicates a problem with your Xbox 360′s DVD drive. The DVD drive’s motherboard (NOT the 360′s motherboard) could be at fault. It is unlikely you can fix it yourself and have to replace the DVD drive.

Replacing the DVD drive has its problems. First you have to identify your model and get the same brand and ROM version. Then you have to flash it with your old firmware code in the DVD drive. Here’s How to Replace/Spoof a Xbox 360 DVD Drive.

One last thing I would like to say is that your flashed/modded ROM is going bad. You can try flashing the firmware again.

Hope your Xbox 360 gets fixed soon.

Instead, here is how to update your modded Xbox 360 with the latest Kinect Dashboard update as shared by Gamersworldbd reader xlivnt:

1. Download the update file from Microsoft.

2. Extract the file with winrar or anything else.

3. After extracting it , you should get the following files.
$systemupdate, default.xex

4.Now take a usb flash drive(pendrive) of atleast 128mb and format the pen drive. The usb must be in FAT32 format.

5.Copy the files $systemupdate, default.xex
to the usb flash drive(pendrive).

6.Plug in the usb flash drive(pendrive) on your xbox 360 and restart the console and the update will begin automatically.

7.After the update is done, the console may restart.

8. You may get an E71 Error after the console restarts. Don’t worry! Turn off your Xbox 360 and take out the flash drive (pendrive). Turn it back on and you’ll be taken to the new dashboard.

Notes- Make sure you don’t turn of your console while it is updating.

1. Take a common/garden bucket
2. Drag/grab everything you want to steal and put it in the bucket. It is important to “grab” the item and not to take it into your inventory.
3. Grab the bucket and take it to a safe place.
4. Take the bucket and then take your stash!

To grab items on PS3/Xbox 360, press and hold the right analog stick. PC versions of Fallout New Vegas, use the Z Key.

You can also do this for your iPhone running the same firmware 3.1.3.

There are other tools, but none is as reliable and user-friendly as SpiritJB. And most other Jailbreak tools gave me crashes or required registry hacking to work under Windows 7 64 bit.

So, after trying unsuccessfully for 8 hours, SpiritJB did the trick in less than five minutes.

A note: I’ve tested this only on firmware 3.1.3. If you don’t have this firmware, plug-in your iPod to iTunes and it will automatically tell you to update.

Here’s how to Jailbreak your iPod Touch/iPhone running firmware 3.1.3 under Windows 7 64 bit:

1. Download SpiritJB for Windows and save it to a location of your choice

2. Right click on the SpiritJB application and select “Properties”.

3. Go to “Compatibility” screen.

Check the box saying “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select “Windows 98/ME.

Also check the box saying “Run this program as an administrator”. and hit OK.

4. Open SpiritJB and if you get a Windows UAC prompt click on “Yes”.

Connect your iPod/iPhone and hit “Jailbreak”

5. SpiritJB will do its thing. Your iPod/iPhone screen will look like the one below. It is essential that you keep your device connected until SpiritJB does its job.

You’re done! Your iPod/iPhone is now Jailbroken.

Clean your PS3 in four easy steps from FileFront news.

Step 1: Preparation

• Unplug your PS3 – You will need to plug it in later but when wiping off the outside, well, not so much.
• Make sure any cleaning solvent is closed when setting it next to electronics – a spill will not clean up your PS3
• Use a cloth, not a paper towel or other fragile cleaning tool. – You don’t want to leave the cleaning tool on or in your PS3.
• Work in a well-lit area – Cleaning in the dark is a sure way to do a bad job.

Step 2: Clean The Outside

Step 3: Activating the “Self Cleaning” Feature

1. Plug in your cleaned PS3 from Step 2 – You need to power up the unit to make this work, so return it to its normal home or bring the plug over to your cleaning space.
2. Make sure the power switch on the PS3 is off – The unit needs to be fully powered down, not just in standby.
3. Turn on the power switch while holding down the Eject button – the system should fire up and you should hear all the system fans come on at once.
4. Wait for the system to return to “Standby” mode – If you did this correctly the unit will blow out all the fans for about 10 seconds before going into standby mode.

The problem lies with the game itself and Codemasters is working on a fix in their upcoming patch. The bug happens when you unlock a R&D objective in practice and then quite to the paddock and exit the game. The next time you load, you’ll be greeted with the corrupt save game warning. To avoid this just head on to qualifying and then quit to paddock.

Here’s what Codemasters has to say:

After a practice session where you complete an R&D objective and unlock a new upgrade make sure you then load in to the following qualifying session before exiting the game.

And also, as our technical support FAQ now says:

We believe this only occurs if, after completing an R&D objective, you…
- Retire to the paddock via the Engineer (in the garage).
- Terminally damage your car and select retire to paddock.
- Get disqualified and select retire to paddock.

As long as you progress to the qualifying session before quitting the game this problem will not occur.

Just to be on the safe side, we have a lot of electricity outages here in Bangladesh. So, take extra precaution and get a UPS. Or don’t play when you think the electricity might go out anytime soon. And don’t overwrite that save game data. It is possible that the upcoming patch may allow you to load from the corrupt save game, though nobody is making any promises.

Pirates have claimed to hack the PS3 to play blu-ray copies of PS3 games. At the moment, copied versions of Killzone 2, Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2008 and Burnout Paradise have been confirmed to work.

In order to hack the PS3, users are also required to have an older PS3 (i.e. not a ‘Slim’ machine) onto which third party OS software can be installed as well as copies of Windows XP, the original MotorStorm and a host of piracy-related DVD software. How To Play Pirated Games on Your PS3 (Gamersworldbd does not endorse such activities and is provided as a proof-of-concept only)

Step 1: Install Ubuntu on your PS3 (or kubuntu)
Step 2: Install Windows XP on Ubuntu
Step 3: Install CloneCD on Windows XP and connect to network another PC so has seen in My Network Places. I do not know if AnyDVD HD is necessary, but I installed it for me
Step 4: Open CloneCD, select new image, insert the game, select “Protected PC Game”, change the extension to ISO.
Step 5: Ripper Blu-Ray on PC via network favorites.
Step 6: Burn with ImgBurn (or CloneCD) in 1X on the PC or has been ripped game

But there is skepticism from the hacking community whether this hack really works. The YouTube video that showed proof of concept has since been pulled down. If the PS3 can, in fact, play pirated blu ray games then expect a new wave of PS3 gamers to hit Bangladesh.

A PERMANENT FIX

The insides of your 360 is delicate and require special handling. That is why, I recommend this step-by-step guide on how to disassemble, repair and put it back together again in less than an hour. Plus, it has all the instructions in video format. I urge everyone to check it out.

I have a lot of friends who have the dreaded Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death. It’s every Bangladeshi gamers nightmare. Since almost all of us buy modded consoles with no warranty, and run cheap pirated discs, the Xbox 360 develops problems over time. Since the warranty isn’t intact, and even if it is, we don’t have an authorized Microsoft repair center to have it fixed for free. So what to do in this case?

DO YOU REALLY HAVE THE RED RING OF DEATH?

One of the first things to do is to check whether you have the red ring of death. Each quadrant on the set of flashing red lights indicates a different issue. The red ring of death is when your Xbox 360 shows 3 red lights in the upper left quadrants. Check with the screen shot to the left which shows a red ring of death.

THE FIX

I’ve read that you can fix the red ring of death by simply wrapping towels around it. I don’t know if this works, or if it leads to problems later on, but you could try it. Here’s the instruction from an editor of Xbox 360 Rally who had the same problem:

Put one towel down, put the 360 on top, add another towel on top, cover all sides/backs/etc. This is key, you have to have that Xbox covered. When you can’t see it, finger around to find the power button and turn it on. Wait 10-15 minutes. Turned back on, I got a chubby when all I seen was green lights. I turned off the system to put back in the hard drive and throw in a game.

MORE ADVANCED FIX

If that didn’t work for you, then you could try the method listed at Instruction Tables. But it’s for advanced users only as you have to take the console apart, and possibly void your warranty.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE RED RING OF DEATH

If all of the lights but the first section are flashing, this means a general hardware failure has occurred. There is little to be done other than trying to unhook and reattach your cables. This problem is a sure sign a visit to the repair center is in your console’s future. If the problem is indicated in the second quadrant of the system, it is merely overheating. As too many hours of GRAW will do that to a unit, the proposed cure here is to unplug the unit from the power supply, let it sit to cool down, and perhaps begin scouting for a better location to store your precious investment.

A problem indicated in the third quadrant of the Xbox 360 ring of light is diagnosed as a hardware failure. Once again, try re-inserting all of your cords and cables, but this problem should definitely be dealt with by the repair center. If all four lights are flashing on the front of your console, this is perhaps the easiest problem to fix. This is an issue with the AV cable not being properly inserted into the back of the console. The cure? Just make sure the cord “clicks” once it has been inserted into the unit.

Sorry to hear that you are facing the dreaded red ring of death. You mentioned that you play on Xbox Live, that means you have an unmodded console and hopefully have the warranty intact. If this is the case, you can head on to http://support.xbox.com to have an Xbox rep assist you. Microsoft covers any console from the red ring of death for a total of 3 years from the date of purchase. Did you buy it from abroad or in Bangladesh? Your retailer should also give you warranty. You could also try returning your console to the retailer.

But wait, it might not be a red ring of death. If all four lights on your console flashes, then it’s just probably some loose cables. Try reconnecting all cables to see if that fixes the problem. Wait for an hour or two to cool down the console and try again. Hopefully it will work.

If you fear that you have the red ring of death, then three red lights will flash up on the console as shown above. If you have the red ring of death, then probably you can’t reapair it yourself.

If you don’t have the warranty, then you could seek help from these sites which details how to fix the console yourself. But be warned because none of them are guaranteed to work and you could have (serious) problems later on.

THE ANNOYANCE

It was going great – or so I thought. The progress bar continued but in reality, nothing happened. I wasted like 10 minutes thinking that Vista was updating behind the scenes – when in fact it wasn’t. I rebooted, thinking that it might have hung up, and started the update program again. This time, I was welcomed with an error message, which told me to correct my system time and date. But everything was correct, and I rechecked, but Vista’s Update program still showed the error.

THE FIX

It seems that Windows Sidebar Widget and the system conflicts with the update program. You can get Windows Vista to update if you close the Sidebar Widget and hide the system clock. If that doesn’t work, select the option to disable the Sidebar Widget to launch on startup, and reboot. Run the update program once again and Windows Vista will update itself.

EXTREME ANNOYANCE

Even if that doesn’t work, you could search the Internet for a specific cause (usually with the error code) or you could get the updates manually from www.softwarepatch.com.

IT’S NOT THAT BAD

Apart from this annoyance, I have faced no other trouble while updating Vista. I actually like Vista’s update center far better than XP’s as it gives more information and allows manufacturers to release updates and drivers. Very useful indeed than having to download and install drivers separately.

There are mainly two ways (as I have categorized) that you can make a PC faster. The first involves system maintenance (in order to maximize your computer’s efficiency) and the latter involves overclocking. Overclocking is not for the faint of heart (or the inexperienced computer user) but if done successfully, can result in a significant performance boost. I will discuss more on overclocking at the end of this article.

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

You would be surprised about how much hidden power lies untapped in that dusty PC of yours, so I guess we should better get working on that.

1. De-fragment your hard drive: As you use your PC on a day-to-day basis the end result is that your system files become scattered all over your hard drive. This is known as fragmentation and can result in slow performance as Windows looks all over the place for a file. So the first thing you need to do is de-fragment your hard drive. Use Windows built-in hard disk defragmenter [START>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter] and click on analyze. It will advise you on which drives to defragment. You should see a modest boost in performance once you have defragged your drives.

2. Clean the temp folder: As you browse the internet and perform tasks on your PC, junk files and other stuff gets stored in your temporary internet files and internet files, respectively. You could manually delete them [C:\WINDOWS\Temp] or use a free tool such as ccCleaner [DOWNLOAD LINK] to do the job for you. Not only will this free up your disk space but you should also see some performance boost.

3. Run a spyware/adware scan: Spywares, adwares and viruses are notoriously known to make your PC slow down to a crawl (as if they didn’t already cause much harm). Use Lavasoft’s Adaware and AVG’s Free Antivirus to eliminate those nasties and you will notice an improvement in system stability and performance. In the future, it is better to prevent your computer from getting infected in the first place. 4. Update your drivers: Update your video card driver – Nvidia and ATI are constantly releasing new drivers to squeeze the last drop of performance out of their video cards. If you are a gamer, then you might notice a significant improvement in your game’s framerate.

OVERCLOCKING

All of these tips will help you to utilize your computer’s full potential. But if you are looking to gain even more performance for free – and who doesn’t want that? - then you should consider overclocking. Still be warned that overclocking might void your warranty and you might even end up with a fried piece of silicon!

1. Video card: One of the easiest to overclock is your video card, in which case a software does it for you. If you have an ATI video card, then download ATI Tool. Use Nvidia nTune if you have an Nvidia card. One tool that I use to overclock my Sapphire Radeon graphics card is Trixx – it automatically detects the “safest” overclocking limit and saves it as a configuration. You can load that configur ation when you want improved performance out of your card or return to “normal” or even “lower” performance! If you want to take video overclocking seriously, then I recommend reading PC STAT’S Beginner’s Guide to Overclocking the Video Card.

2. Processor and motherboard: Now this is what overclocking is really about. Most modern processors, motherboard and RAM can be overclocked to a certain degree. But it requires trial and error. One superb guide to overclocking for beginners can be found at PC STAT’S Beginer’s Guide to Overclocking the CPU, Motherboard and Memory. Overclocking is a science in itself and will require not one, but many posts to successfully nail it. You could try searching around google and forums for tips. But remember that overclocking means more heat so you have to ensure that your PC is properly cooled. You might even consider water-cooling for serious overclocking (and that’s not a joke!).
