PS3 Banned In Europe For 10 Days

Custom officers all over Europe have seized PS3s in the region, as an LG injunction against the hardware giant concerning Blur-Ray technology is looking to stop the sale Sony’s flagship console.

It was earlier in the month that LG sought to stop the shipment of the consoles not only in Europe, but also the U.S., filing claim with the International Trade Commission, claiming PS3 uses four of its patents, while Sony’s line of Bravia TVs infringe on four patents.

Nintendo 3DS Enjoys Successful Launch In Japan

The Nintendo 3DS has enjoyed a successful launch in Japan today, despite thin stock supply.

According to Reuters, gamers lined up at the Bic Camera electronics store in Yurakucho, Tokyo – even though initial 3DS stocks sold out in a single day of pre-orders on January 20.

Nintendo has said that if you wish to avoid getting motion sickness when playing 3D games on 3DS, take a break every 30 minutes.

According to a report over on Japanese newspaper Nikkei, 3D can affect folks who are prone to motion sickness, and may impact those who normally aren’t. 3D has also been known to cause eye-fatigue.

Analysts: Xbox 360 Topped US Sales In January

PS3 Sales Getting Close To Xbox 360 Sales

Sony’s PS3 has sold 6.7 million units in the last three months which sums the total PS3 sales to 47.9 million units, whereas its arch rival the Xbox 360 stands at 50 million units so far.

Features and support for trophies and apps:

According to the video released by Sony that was shown at the press conference during the official revelation of the PSP2 or it’s codename NGP, it’s claimed that the system is to support some amazing new features, trophies, apps and some social features like messaging.

Though the video doesn’t actually show the PSP2 – or NGP as it’s codenamed, but it does showcase a few features and some fancy graphics pointed to Trophies on the handheld as well as apps (a map app in particular) and messaging.

Sources close to French site 01.net have handed it some information on Sony’s PSP2, based on the handheld’s development kit, and the specs claim the portable will be using almost the same CPU & GPU combination as the rumored next iteration of iPad and iPhone.

New Consoles In 2013? Crytek Says Yes

Because of Sony and Microsoft’s move into the motion controls market, analysts have said that we might not see the next set of video game consoles until 2014, but if you were to ask Crytek, the developer would give you a much sooner date than the aforesaid.

That’s according to Crytek boss, Cevat Yerli, speaking in a recent interview with CVG.

“… I think when we put Crysis 2 out we will show a level that is, multiplatform-wise, maxing out, but we will look into with Microsoft how Kingdoms can push the Xbox 360 110 percent, to its limits,” he said.
