EA Announces NFS Undercover, New Details Emerge

It seems like Need For Speed is undergoing a makeover again. Since the legal-racing theme didn’t quite work out in NFS ProStreet, EA boss John Riccitiello is rethinking the franchise with the latest NFS Undercover, due to ship later this year.

The game will have a “strong mission structure” and have a theme similar to that of the movie, The Transporter. NFS Undercover will be released for the PC, PSP, PS3, DS, Wii and the Xbox 360. The game is in development by one of EA’s two Vancouver based Need For Speed team.

Will it be any better? According to an interview in Gamespot, Riccitiello said, “I’m confident that Undercover is a much better game than ProStreet, and I expect that from this point forward that we’ll do a lot better.” Let’s hope he is right.
