All You Need To Know About Motion Controlled Gaming
Well, it certainly has been a long time since my last post over here in good old gamersworldbd. I’ve been really busy with my studies, and i’ll try to post some new articles now and then.
Gaming as we know it could be changed forever in 2010. The reason- the introduction of motion controls for all of your favorite gaming systems. Thanks to the huge success of the Wii with its world renown Wiimote, Microsoft and Sony have decided that motion gaming is the way to go. Both the companies have announced motion peripherals for their respective consoles, the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.
Microsoft revealed their motion peripheral for the Xbox 360 way back at E3 2009. The peripheral, code-named Project Natal, is all set to be released during the fourth quarter of 2010.
It is designed to be an add-on to the Xbox 360, and will work with all models of the system. Project Natal is basically a wide, horizontal, bar-shaped sensor. The device features a RGB camera, depth-sensor and a multi-array microphone, which will be able to provide full-body 3D motion capture, facial recognition and voice recognition capabilities. It basically gives you the power to game without the hassle of any controllers or devices, which require physical contact.

Check out the Project Natal CES 2010 Video.
Sony also revealed their motion controller at E3, named the Playstation Motion Controller (I know, really original Sony). [Update] The PS3 motion controller is now called the Arc. The device is announced to launch in Spring 2010. The controller, is basically just like the Wiimote, as it is a handheld remote like device. The controller consists of an orb at the top, which, with the help of The Playstation Eye and inertial sensors, is able to translate physical movements into video game actions. The orb is luminescent as it can glow in a variety of colours using LEDs. The light of the orb and its shape, enables the Playstation Eye to determine the controllers actual 3D position.
Before you get too excited, think about the price. With all that hardware, these things won’t be cheap. Prepare to dish out a good amount of cash in order to enjoy the gaming of the future!

I feel that wii actually bought some innovation in the 7th generation of gaming. Project natal is a HD version of PS2’s eye toy. nothing new from sony also.

@Wahid Hasib
But the PS2’s Eye Toy didn’t have the backings of big name game companies and Sony didn’t really push it hard. That said, Microsoft is really pushing Natal.
