Sega Q1 2010 Results, Makes $80.8M Profit

You read that right.

In the first quearter of 2010, Sega reported a 7 billion yen ($80.8 million) profit for the period that ended on June 30. During the same quarter last year, Sega reported a loss of 10.3 billion yen ($118.9 million).

Sales rise 51% year-on-year to 91.3 billion yen ($1.05 billion).

Alpha Protocol, which was less well received by critics, sold a total of 700K units globally. Iron Man 2, meanwhile, sold 1.12 million copies worldwide.

Total game sales broke down as follows: 1.68 million games in the US, 1.33 million in Europe, and a mere 270K copies in Japan and other regions.
