Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 Is Arkham City, Story Details, Characters And Release Date

Rocksteady has revealed to GameInformer that Batman: Arkham Asylum 2, sequel to the surprise hit Arkham Asylum, will be actually called Batman: Arkham City.

“Almost exactly a year ago, Batman: Arkham Asylum launched to wide acclaim and millions in sales. Now, developer Rocksteady Studios returns to the the franchise that put the company’s name on the map to blow away gamers all over again,” the mag writes.

New characters include Cat Woman, Mr. Freeze and Two-Face.

Rocksteady promised its sequel “won’t let anyone down,” and “we really want to surprise people again.”

According to the developer, Arkham City “builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security ‘home’ for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.”

Rocksteady also reckons “a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features” will deliver “the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.”

Batman: Arkham City is scheduled to release on Autumn 2011.
