Lara Croft: Guardian Of Light Confusing Release Dates Simplified, Plus DLCs And Missing Xbox 360 Online Functions

There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the latest download-only Lara Croft adventure.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will release first for Xbox 360 on August 18 2010.

It will release for PC (via Steam) and PS3 on September 28 2010.

However, the Xbox 360 version won’t feature online multiplayer/co-op, leaderboards or voice chat functionality. It will be patched to the Xbox 360 version on September 28 2010, yes, the same day the PC and PS3 versions get released.

Speaking to GameSpot, Crystal Dynamics global brand director Karl Stewart stated that the online portion required more development time.

“Everybody’s disappointed, but we’re also excited. We’re making a stand to say we’re not going to have somebody download the game on August 18, play it, and feel like we came in a little under par on the online portion. It was a tough decision, but I think we made the right decision.”

DLCs have also been announced for the Guardian of Light. VG247 reports:

“From October to December, five packs will be made available across all formats. The first three are expansion packs featuring a combination of all new puzzles, exploration and combat in the game and new areas to explore.

The further two packs are playable character packs, offering gamers the chance to experience the entire adventure without Lara and Totec by playing instead with some other “well-known videogame characters.”
