Microsoft Announces New 360 Controller, D-Pad Improvement, Releases November 2010

Xbox 366’s Major Nelson just confirmed that a new 360 wireless pad, with the much-rumoured revamped d-pad, will release on November 9 2010.

Price with the new Play & Charge Kit is $64.99

The d-pad on the controller gives the player a better four-way directional feel, rather than how it feels today (read: terrible).

Major Nelson said:

“In addition to the new d-pad, the matte silver controller also features concave analog sticks and gray A,B,X,Y buttons for added style.

The controller will only be available with the new Play & Charge Kit that will launch on November 9th for US $64.99.”

  1. Looks Exotic! a must have for every xbox 360 owner :mrgreen:

    I just wish they make the new 360 controller much lighter. It was a shock for me to go back to the 360 controller from playing the PS3 exclusively for a few days the first time, I never knew it was that heavy. 😛

    I think its right, even though I’ve never felt it before reading the post, but ever since I read this post I’ve realized that it actually seems terrible to control the d-pad in the current controllers. 😈
    I think I’ll get the new 360 controller when I’ll get the slim one(Including Kinect). 😀 Btw… The whole matte silver outlook of the controller & gray A,B,X,Y buttons are looking very exotic & stylish to me… 😛

    Exactly, I also felt the same thing when I first switched to my 360 controller after playing in the PS3 for a while. Comparatively, its much heavier than the PS3 controller. 👿

    yeah it seems out of place when changing the controllers for gaming.It depends some people like heavier xbox 360 controller over the ps3 controller while some dont.I dont know why i like the heavier ones more :mrgreen:

    @sng425

    when i had a xbox 360 i used to play virtua tennis 3 and it was somewhat clunky with a fragile feeling of playing with the d-pad rather the the left stick.It depends on games and its hard to realize as the d-pad is rarely used in most games like in gears of war just for changing the weapon [simple tasks].
