PSJailBreak: PS3 Finally Craked By Hackers, Allows Playing Of Backup Games, Plus Video
The internet is ablaze with news of a new PS3 modchip that allows playing of backup games on the old/new slim PS3.
The software known as PSJailbreak, comes on a pre-loaded USB drive. Once installed, the software allows copying of game data to the USB drive and playing the “backup” copy on other PS3s. It works with the current 3.41 firmware.
The PSJailbreak USB drive is up for pre-order from OzModChips for $170.

Don’t know the exact time frame when it will be available in BD. Plus, you need the USB drive for the heack to work so, most likely, it will be sold as an accessory. If you can’t wait, you can pre-order the device and get FedEx shipping from the website.

It allows you to dump your original ps3 games onto a fat32 formatted external HDD, or if you have enough space, on your Internal sony HDD. After the game is dumped you can take out the disc and play the game directly off the harddrive.
So, no pirated blu-ray discs. It doesn’t even allow you to copy games from pirated blu-ray discs.

That sounds complicated , but it shows how hard it has been to hack ps3…
I kinda feel sad that i brought xbox 360 elite just few days before xbox slim was hacked ..

Well, it isn’t that complicated as it sounds like. In fact, it sounded quite easy to me, I mean you really don’t have to do anything “surgical” to your PS3’s BD-rom drive unlike the Xbox 360’s DVD rom drive. And dumping your PS3 games into the hdd means you won’t need any disc to play the game, You can directly play the game off your hdd.

Yup, you’re right. I would say wait a bit longer. There will be a alternative and possibly free version of this hack for the PS3.
