LucasArts Drops Out, EA Publishing Star Wars: The Old Republic Alone

LucasArts has dropped out from publishing Star Wars: The Old Republic and EA will be the sole publisher of the game. This was done “so that all publishing, marketing and distribution responsibilities can be centralized for efficiency.”

LucasArts will take on a licensing role in The Old Republic and will be closely involved with the project. BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka said, “a key partner, collaborating on design and marketing, and as a licensor of the property.”

Previously, Bigpoint CEO told EA/BioWare will never be profitable with The Old Republic.

The game is due out sometime in spring 2011.
