The Witcher 2 Coming To Consoles As Well?

Polish developer CD Projeckt’s senior producer Tomasz Gop and co-founder and CEO Marcin Iwiriski have said that they have plans for console release of The Witcher 2 : Assassins of Kings.

If it happens, it would be just “a matter of months” after the PC version launches on 17th May 2011.

“We wouldn’t like them[console players] to wait too long. It just wouldn’t make commercial sense. So if there will be a version, it will be a matter of months.” – Iwi?ski.

He also added about their technology which supports multiplatform, “We’ve openly said our technology supports multiplatform.”

“And we know how many players, especially in the UK as well as in the US, play on Xbox 360. We are pretty good at maths. That’s all I can say for now.”

CD projekt wants to take enough time before it releases a console port of the game as it has never ported a game to consoles before.

“We have not released any console games yet. That’s why we’re approaching this topic with even more caution.”

If a PS3 or Xbox 360 version of the game eventually releases, it won’t be prior to the PC Version or along with it as CD Projekt is currently focusing on the PC version of the game.

Whatsoever, it was previously announced that CD Projekt will track and fine the users who download The Witcher 2 illegally in order to prevent piracy.

The Witcher 2 is scheduled to release on 17th May 2011 on PC.

  1. Although I like to play rpgs on PC but a console port of the game would be nice to see what CD Projekt can do with the consoles as they have never ported a game to a console.

Bro, have you finished The Witcher? It is rare to see such a good eastern-European RPG. Can’t wait for Witcher 2. IGN already played with a 360 controller on the PC version, so it remains to be seen what they can achieve on the consoles.

I got the original The Witcher which was released on 2007. But due to it’s long loading times and some few other bugs I couldn’t play it. But after hearing it’s a good game, I’m still interested on it and have plans to get the enhanced edition which released later.

You really should try the Enhanced Edition, no problems whatsoever. I also got the vanilla edition of Witcher and yes it was buggy. Hope The Witcher 2 will be superb from the ground up 😀

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll check it out once I get the time. 😛 Nevertheless, to say the truth, I was actually waiting for The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, the console version of the original game that was going to release within fall 2009. But as it was suspended later, I somehow lost my interest on it. Though I later got to know the enhanced edition is quite good and since then I’ve been looking forward to it but however didn’t manage to get the time to play it.

But now I’ve decided that I’ll play the enhanced edition before The Witcher 2 gets released.
