EA CEO John Riccitiello Blasts Black Ops And Activision

“Playing the finger pointing game EA is.” That’s what Master Yoda of Star Wars would have said if he read EA CEO John Riccitiello’s recent statement.

Speaking to IndustryGamers, the EA boss mocked Activision for releasing an unfinished Black Ops. He also cites Modern Warfare 2’s sales for the success of Black Ops:

“Activision will do 25 million on the tail of last year’s Modern Warfare 2 and the start of this year’s Black Ops, and then probably something similar next year. But it took them, what, five or six editions to get into double digit millions?”

Not stopping there, he went on to say that a game company should be fronted by a gamer at heart:

“I don’t know that having two guys that probably don’t play the games, in the form of the CEO of Vivendi and the CEO of Activision, come out and say ‘Treyarch is our lead developer,’ like you could anoint that. They didn’t make a 90-rated game; I think it’s 86 now.”

EA had previously said that single-player only games would be dead and would topple Black Ops soon.
