Microsoft Blocks Kinect Sex Game

By now you have heard (and maybe even watched a video demo) of the Kinect sex game by software developer ThriXXX.

ThriXXX had this to say about Kinect and the upcoming sex game:

“Recent events in the Kinect Hacker community and the Open Sourcing of device drivers have enabled the Kinect device to be used directly from connected PC’s operating on Windows 7,” ThriXXX said. “The Kinect interface provides another exciting interface option for users of the sex simulation software to control the experience in extraordinary new ways!”

However, Microsoft has said that this sort of game would never pass certification and never make it on to the Xbox 360:

“This isn’t the first example of a technology being used in ways not intended by its manufacturer, and it won’t be the last,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “Microsoft did not authorize or license its technology for this use.”

“Xbox is a family friendly games and entertainment console and does not allow Adults Only (AO) content to be certified for use on its platform, and would not condone this type of game for Kinect.”

Good riddance if you ask me.
