Gamersworldbd’s Game Of The Year 2010 Awards

Well would you look at that? Another year has gone and passed by. This year has been a blockbuster year for us, gaining massive number of readers, covering latest gaming news and finally putting together a team of editors for Gamersworldbd.com

As gamers, 2010 has treated us to the best games that we’ve seen in a long time, but it was not without ups and downs.

With so many games, it was really a tough one to call out the winners. But we’ve done it at last.

So, without further ado, here is Gamersworldbd’s Best Games of 2010 Awards (we’ll be saving the best for last):

== Best Sequel

2010 marked the year for sequels. Many of our favorite games got an overhaul and developers got to learn and refine their games even further.

So the winner is……

Red Dead Redemption

No surprise there. When Rockstar took the reins of the Red Dead series, they created one of 2010’s unforgettable (and unmissable) western experience. Although its previous Red Dead Revolver was good, but Redemption instantly won critics’ heart everywhere.

== Best Character

For this category, the character has to be believable. The character has to immerse us in their worlds and one that we can relate to.

So the winner is……

John Marston, Red Dead Redemption

Everyone can instantly relate to Marston. A former outlaw, he has been recruited by the law to hunt down his former gang members and take ’em down. Sad to say, he too did have to go.

We say Marston’s character is the strongest we’ve seen in quite a while. It takes a real man to turn down women’ advances (he is faithfully married), marry who he did and have time to spend with his family. Not to mention taking on the toughest of the tough the wild west has to offer. He is truly a legend of the wild west.

== Best Game Nobody Played

This game got really good reviews and critical acclaim. But sadly, many of you didn’t play it.

So the award goes to……

Amnesia: The Dark Descent (PC)

Amnesia is a horror game unlike anything you’ve ever played. It comes from a small developer called Frictional Games, creator of the fabled Penumbra series.

As we’ve previously said, The atmosphere and setting truly surpasses those of recent big-budget horror games. The game doesn’t give you a gun, and that makes it even more nerve wracking. Stay too long in the shadows or experience too much unnatural events and monsters and you’ll slowly go insane. Your head will start to spin, vision will be blurred, you’ll have a hard time standing straight and any controls that you input will be sluggish. This makes for a very frightening experience in damp, barely lit corridors and basements. Monsters are few but you always get the feeling that someone is following you.

== Best PC Game Of The Year

This award goes to that very game which showcases the best of the best that the PC has to offer.

So the winner is……

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

Nothing says PC gaming rocks than over 12 million players. You’ve truly got to play it to find out why it’s so addictive. Once Cataclysm hit, there was no turning back.

== Best PS3 Game Of The Year

This award goes to that very game which showcases the best of the best that the PS3 has to offer.

So the winner is……

God of War 3

The PS3 had a strong year but in the end God of War 3 edged ahead. We needn’t explain why this won the award as anybody who owns a PS3 has played God of War 3. This shows the huge appeal of the game and puts rest to the tale of Kratos’ bloody revenge.

== Best Xbox 360 Game Of The Year

This award goes to that very game which showcases the best of the best that the Xbox 360 has to offer.

So the winner is……

The creators of the Max Payne series brings you Alan Wake. The survival horror is exciting without losing it’s “horror” part. And with a story on par with the best out there, this is definitely the best Xbox 360 has to offer in 2010.

== Best Innovation Of The Year

2010 has been a great year for innovation. New tech included Microsoft’s Kinect, the redesigned (and much more sexy) Xbox 360 Slim and Sony’s PlayStation Move. Not to mention 3D.

On the software side, there was Heavy Rain which, as we like to call it, “a movie-like game experience”.

So the winner is……

Xbox 360 Kinect

Yup, never has a game technology been so widely changing. Kinect offers you a revolutionary way to control your games – yourself. We believe that Kinect is one step toward total gaming immersion.

It also works on the PC (with hacked drivers) and already has gained popularity with modders and gamers alike.

== Most Anticipated Game Of 2011

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Need we say more? 😉

== Gamersworldbd’s Game Of The Year 2010

Time for the coveted Game of the Year 2010 award! So, who’s it going to be? This year presented a lot of good contestants.

And without further ado, the Game of the Year 2010 is……

Red Dead Redemption! From the sound to the animation, atmosphere and voice acting – there is hardly any fault to be found with Rockstar’s latest masterpiece. Red Dead Redemption essentially captures the true feeling of the wild old west.

That’s it folks. Here’s us wishing 2011 turns out to be an even bigger and exciting year for gamers. And a happy new year to you from the Gamersworldbd team!

  6. Nice…
people should have voted a xbox360 exclusive game for best xbox 360 games though..like god of war for ps3.

  7. @gamin wiz
    great presentation
    @ everyone
    Happy New Year!
    @ mask
i regretted givin it to RDR when i saw all the ps3 fanboys (aham.. rabbi) giving GOW3…maybe should have given it to alan wake..

  8. Why not Halo Reach?

  9. isnt cataclysm multiplayer only???

  10. @xlivnt
    good question

  11. @rabbi
innovation of the year- where is PS move??? 😈 😈

  12. @x360assasin

“i regretted givin it to RDR when i saw all the ps3 fanboys (aham.. rabbi) giving GOW3…”

    – 😯 😯 😯 God of War 3 really deserves to be the best PS3 game of this year, there’s nothing fanboyish on it. Although, it could have been better if a 360 exclusive like Alan Wake or Halo Reach would have won the award, but Red Dead Redemption isn’t bad either.

  13. Alan wake is truly a standout game…both in game play & critically… & I’m happy it at least won the GWBD award 4 best x360 game.

  14. @sng425
ya i saw a bit of gameplay of GOW3…looks cool…but i think the best xbox 360 game shud have been a exclusive one like Reach or Alan Wake

  15. BTW……………the presention is just AWESOME!

  16. BTW……………the presentation is just AWESOME!

  17. Agreed on Red dead, it is actually THAT good! I don’t know how I feel about, not seeing Halo Reach up there because it is one of the best shooters on the 360; No Halo fans perhaps 😛 Black ops was awesome, mad difficult on veteran. But I am glad to see Alan Wake won the best 360 game of 2010, it was a unique experience.

  18. @TheSituation

It’s been quite a while, good to see some familiar faces, you guys are always welcome here, come often

  19. @TheSituation,

Good to see you man. Where were you?

  20. @TheGamingWiz,

bro..My net’s NAT is moderate, i directly plug the cable on the back of my xbox 360. Since it’s moderate, sometimes it doesn’t join Black Ops game lobby. So if i buy a router can i make it an open NAT ?.All the other game works just fine.

  21. @xlivnt

NAT’s mainly an ISP issue where they block your ports. What ISP do you use?

Black Ops uses the following ports on Xbox 360: TCP [80] UDP [88, 3074, 22728, 33233].

Go to http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and check whether those ports are open.

  22. @The Gaming Wiz/Mushfiqur Rahman,

Oh, man this is pure shit! All the ports are blocked. 😯 😯 . And as far as I know port 3074 is used to transfer data between XBL and the ISP. Even though, I can play XBL very well, I have never lost connection to the internet while on XBL. Sometimes it disconnects from game session only but very rarely. If you have strict NAT you’ll find it very very difficult to find games in COD and AC, while if you have moderate NAT then you’ll be able to join games on COD but it’s gonna take a while, though almost all the games works fine with moderate NAT. But what I really want is my NAT to be open, so I don’t have any difficult whatsoever joining games on COD. I think I need to get router and forward ports, if that’s gonna help, well maybe?

  23. I’m trying to find a way to open port UDP 16000 anyone can help? I’m really anxious to play on Gameranger but I have firewall problems that’s blocking the port that gameranger requires. any suggestions?

  24. @gamerkid
just enable DMZ, or turn of firewall..
    p.s> its risky

  25. @x360 assasin

appreciate the help but I already put the port on the exceptions list and I don’t think my firewall is the culprit, the router is blocking the port, I checked it and it says ‘blocked’

  26. 🙄 🙄 🙄

  27. I need to find a way to open the port 😥

  28. Tell your ISP to unblock your ports/get a real IP if you’re using Qubee. If it’s blocked on the ISP level, there’s nothing can you do even if you forward ports/put your IP in DMZ/turn off firewall.

  29. @The Gaming Wiz

Appreciate it, let’s see if it’ll help or not 🙄

  30. ok…no one answered my question..isnt cataclysm multiplayer only??

  31. @x360assassin

You can’t even log into an MMO like World of Warcraft Cataclysm without being online. But its structured for both single and multiplayer. You can do quests alone and also with friends. But the raids/dungeons are strictly multiplayer only.

  32. hmm..bujlam…thnx for explaining..but then u have to be online all the time..which means no piracy.. 👿

  33. @x360assasin

On the contrary. You can play on cracked/pirated servers. I haven’t had experience playing on those servers but some of my friends do. The people playing on those servers are often times rude. Moreover most servers are outdated and don’t have the latest patch.

  34. @gamin wiz
hmm..but i dunno why.. i enjoy playing on alterIW(cracked servers for mw2) rather than steam..afterall the modifications in the cracked servers are for the benefit of the gamers 😕 ..
