Introducing The No 1 Pirated Game of 2009

Take a guess, which game do you think took the #1 spot as the most pirated game online? Let me give you a hint ….it has no dedicated server support….is the best selling videogame of all time….has a controversial “airport shooting mission”….and is a sequel to a critically acclaimed “modern” shooter of 2007. Yup, you guessed it right – it’s Modern Warfare 2.

But you will be even more astonished as to how many illegal copies were downloaded. According to TorrentFreak, Modern Warfare 2 was downloaded a whopping 4.1 million times for the PC and 970,000 times for the Xbox 360. Still, Modern Warfare 2 brought in $550 million in sales revenue on the first five days alone. Makes you think what would happen if another 5 million customers paid for the game, doesn’t it?

  1. awsum game, but too short to savor…the story line should have been longer…but the gameplay, graphics, and of course, the legendary crystal clear real life sound of the COD series….simply awsum!!

I guess the game is awesome because it’s short. That said, the campaign could have made more sense though. Plus, no dedicated PC servers?!

  3. activision is following EA on this…no LAN\servers, only a worldwide activision server…like eaonline.
while this step is a great drawback for piracy,im sure people will find out a way to play these games online for free…like the private servers for WoW…games that will stay in the market for a long time will always have free underground private servers…but CoD doesnt fall under the section of games here to stay :p
nfs world online does fall under it though.

You can also do that with Hamachi, but yes, that requires the game to have LAN support.

Anyway, this is utter crap by Activision.
