Motion Controlled Gaming Comes To PC, Courtesy of Razer and Sixense

Razer is already famous for their top of the line gaming mice, and some even import these gaming mouse in Bangladesh. Now Razer has teamed up with Sixense to bring motion controlled gaming to PC. At the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2010, Razer demoed the controller with Left 4 Dead 2. First there was the Wii, then Natal and now the PC.

The video below shows how controls work in L4D2, but I’m skeptical. Call me paranoid, but I still prefer mouse & keyboard/gamepad for all my hardcore gaming. You don’t have to flail your arms around like in Xbox 360’s Natal, instead you have two controls (similar to the Wii) in your hand.

Engadget describes it “sort of like a Wiimote / Natal mashup, but just for PCs”. Whereas CNet wrote, “while there was a bit of a learning curve, the motion control was on point and accurate. We were able to rotate and slice a katana blade on screen, successfully decapitating a few zombies in the process. Shooting seemed a bit more intuitive and we were impressed with the satisfying degree of control the device offered”.

Valve is also impressed. Chet Faliszek, team lead on L4D2 praised it, saying “for us and for our customers, this release represents motion-enabled gaming that’s more integrated and visceral than any platform has so far achieved.”

Although no release date is specified and the product even doesn’t have a name yet, expect it to release late 2010 or early 2011.

That said, the Wii is good fun and Im gonna get Natal.

  3. wow looks promising but, only reason i stick to PC is the keyboard/mouse control….they are easier and to me…..less complicated…..compared to PS3 and XboX.
but if this can prove me wrong….well…GREAT!!!!

Welcome to my dilemma. I like the idea of motion controlled gaming but I’m skeptical whether it is the right choice for hardcore gaming. But you must try it to know how fun it is, eg Wii sports rock!
