Yeah, you already pay for your net connection and for Xbox Live. So, the internet was ablaze when a video (which you can view below) was leaked detailing Activision’s plan to charge for Modern Warfare 2 online play.

Turns out, the whole thing is a fake.

Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward and its community manager Robert Bowling tweeted:

“For the record, nobody has to pay to play COD or MW2 multiplayer, nor will they.”

The tweet says:

“No, you will not have to ‘Pay to Play’ #CODBlackOps Multiplayer either. Rumor -> Squashed.”
