Download Xbox 360 Kinect Dashboard Update, Plus Changes And New Features
[Update 2] Bangladeshi users can now download the dashboard update via Xbox Live. I’m done half-way through.
Microsoft has released the Kinect Xbox 360 Dashboard update which is available for download now. Your Xbox 360 should automatically update the next time you sign into Xbox Live.
Alternatively, you can download the Kinect Dashboard update, put it into a pen drive/burn to a CD and update your Xbox 360.
[Update] It seems Bangladeshi users can’t get the update yet via Xobx Live. I signed in and did not get the notification to update yet.

* Improved experience for changing your Gamertag — choosing a new Gamertag? If the Gamertag you’re looking for is already taken, your Avatar will spin a wheel and we will provide five other Gamertag suggestions at a time for you to choose from.
* Streamlined in-dashboard virtual keyboard — we’ve taken the existing QWERTY keyboard in-dash and made it easier to use for scenarios that involve repeated text entry, for example when signing up for LIVE within the dashboard.
* Improved Xbox LIVE Marketplace UI and browse experience — the Games Marketplace has been re-organized to provide streamlined access to the games and content you want, reducing the number of steps it takes to get to a download.
* Avatar changes — we’ve made your Avatars slightly more proportional so you can better play Kinect games
* Easier to get on a wireless network — trying to connect to a wireless network? With the next update, you’ll see a list of all the wireless networks within range when you go into network settings. From there, you’ll be able to select a new network or further configure the network you’re connected to.
* Ability to sign-out other controllers in the sign-in UI — we’re adding the ability to sign-out profiles on other controllers in the sign-in UI within the Guide. This is especially useful when playing games like Rock Band.
* New browse experience for 100% completed games — you spent a lot of time and effort earning those Achievements, so instead of only being able to view your first dozen completed games, we’re giving you a new and better way to browse all of them.

Link is legit, direct from MS. You can see the link at this page http://support.xbox.com/en-us/pages/xbox-360/how-to/update-xbox-360/system-updates.aspx and click on the download link.
The change isn’t as significant as some might make you believe.

im not sure how i got it but when i signed onto live this morning i got the update…. n after a few load sheddings (yes dreaded load sheddings 👿 ) i finally downloaded the entire update n i gotta say its totally worth it..:P if ur into looks an all 😀

Speaking of load-sheddings. The electricity went at 3 PM. I have generator but no UPS connected to my 360. So, start updating at 3:25 PM after lunch and was begging for it to complete before 4 PM (when the electricity comes back on, the power restarts). Luckily it took around 25 mins so had 5 mins to spare. That was close
Anyway, the looks are cool and the interface has been streamlined.

I don’t think so. Just don’t update via Xbox Live. Download the update from the link above, transfer it to a pendrive/burn it to a CD and update.

i have finally updated it and not without problems! First i put the file on the usb then i connected the usb on the xbox 360 and it updated but after the update when it restarts, it restarted and gave me an E74 error..Then i restarted again and got the same thing..Then i removed the usb and restarted it and it was ok…haa relive
!!! InsaAllah this type of thing will not happen in the future..

Yes , my xbox 360 is modded and i didnt have any other problems.
Now , i’ll tell you in details how to update your dashboard.
1. Download the update file from http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/4/6/146DC573-E0D9-4357-9D85-5A7DEC443050/systemupdate.zip
2. Extract the file with winrar or anything else.
3. After extracting it , you should get the following files.
$systemupdate, default.xex
4.Now take a usb flash drive(pendrive) of atleast 128mb and format the pen drive. The usb must be in FAT32 format.
5.Copy the files $systemupdate, default.xex
to the usb flash drive(pendrive).
6.Plug in the usb flash drive(pendrive) on your xbox 360 and restart the console and the update will begin automatically.
7.After the update is done, the console may restart.
Notes- Make sure you don’t turn of your console while it is updating.

no probs so far after i updated i got the e71 error same as u bt afta rmovin pd it went away………i am able to play my games…..bt i heard sum with modded x360 n kinect update r hsviv 2ruble playin fable 3…..i am afraid that it might hapen in the future with otha games… i myself playd fable 3 @ da previous vsion bt i gav thegame 2 a friend so im gna test it soon………

I haven’t had any problems with the new dashboard so far cause i’ve been only playing SvR 11 and fifa 11 after the update.
I didnt go online yet, but i plan to do it today. 😉

I haven’t had any problems after updating cause the only games i have been playing after the update are SvR 11 and fifa 11.

Just a heads up, don’t go over to Live with the new dashboard installed(if your 360’s modded), I heard that MS has bred a new security feature known as AP 2.5 which marks your console if it’s modded and later bans your console when the entire banning process starts(which usually starts at the end of every year). If you get banned, you might lose the feature to install games on your HDD.

as i have a modded and an unmodded xbox….i think modded one’s r jst better… i am thinking of a PS3..which 1’s bettr 150gb ,250gb or 320gb no need for MOVE…….

Get one with a HDD size that matches your usage. No point getting a 320GB PS3 if you’re only gonna fill it with 10GB of data. Unlike Xbox 360 where you can install games in HDD which needs a bigger HDD. Hmmm… time to upgrade my 120GB 360 HDD. 😈

If you plan to mod(also known as Jailbreak)your PS3 than get a bigger hdd size, because some games don’t support playing from the external hdd. Instead, you’ll need your internal hdd to make them work. Besides, some PS3 games are very big in size, such as God of War 3 is nearly about 34GB 😯 . So it would be better to get a bigger hdd with lots of space. And also don’t forget to get an external hdd for your PS3 (if you jailbreak your PS3), as most of the games only support and work on the external hdd .

Go for it then, 🙂 but be aware of the fake jailbreak dongles, I’ve heard that some jailbreak dongles instantly works on currently released games but they aren’t upgradeable and won’t work with the future games. Our fellow gamers world bd reader Rabbi has been cheated and deceived with a fake jailbreak dongle which only works on currently released games but isn’t upgradeable, so the games that work on firmware 3.42 aren’t working with his jailbreak dongle. So, only buy the original one that works.

I do have the kinect dashboard , and i went online , just to find my gold subscription was over…And i heard that people will get dirty disc error when they try to play , copied games on live and then it will flag the console. Since, my gold was over so i didn’t take the risk of starting the game, i also heard rumors on the internet that this technology hasn’t been working properly and people are playing leaked COD Black Ops online.
