How To Update Your Modded Xbox 360 With The Kinect Dashboard November 2010 Update
If you have modded your Xbox 360 for whatever purpose, you can’t get the latest November 2010 Kinect Dashboard update via Xbox Live. That’s a one-way ticket to bans-ville.
Instead, here is how to update your modded Xbox 360 with the latest Kinect Dashboard update as shared by Gamersworldbd reader xlivnt:
1. Download the update file from Microsoft.
2. Extract the file with winrar or anything else.
3. After extracting it , you should get the following files.
$systemupdate, default.xex
4.Now take a usb flash drive(pendrive) of atleast 128mb and format the pen drive. The usb must be in FAT32 format.
5.Copy the files $systemupdate, default.xex
to the usb flash drive(pendrive).
6.Plug in the usb flash drive(pendrive) on your xbox 360 and restart the console and the update will begin automatically.
7.After the update is done, the console may restart.
8. You may get an E71 Error after the console restarts. Don’t worry! Turn off your Xbox 360 and take out the flash drive (pendrive). Turn it back on and you’ll be taken to the new dashboard.
Notes- Make sure you don’t turn of your console while it is updating.

anywayz, do anyone familiar about an error in 360?i have a peculiar problem and couldn’t get any solutn.my 360 restarts while playing games (even when it is idle) and da dvd drive wont respond, it shows open tray in the dash board (even there is a game disc) and da eject button wont work at all.da middle green light blinks as like it will eject but nothing happened.at first after a few restart i cud play games,but after some weeks it wont work dat way.i can play again after some days.i d-assembled da 360 and when it shows da problem, i open and reconnect the sata and data bus of da DVD drive and after some try it works.but its not the solutn.plz if anyone can help me…

I also got the E71 error even though I was aware of it, but however I forgot to remove the flash drive beforehand, and thus suffered from the consequence.

heello i got a flashed xbox and i was just wondering if this will get me banned becasue i didnt update yet because i know im gonna get banned so this is the way to go not to get banned>? or is iit for the people that are alredy banned who wants to update?

If you update to the latest Kinect Dashboard update and try to play a “backup” of Fable 3, it will fail the AP 2.5 test and flag your console for a ban.

Nope, original games will not cause any trouble, not even Fable 3. I have two 360s – one which I use to play originals. I’ve updated and signed into Live with no problem whatsoever.

The article is not quiet true. I used a modded XBOX.
1) I always update via XBOX Live coz the thumbdrive thing just reuse to work for me. (including latest Kinect Dashboard).
2) I’m not banned. In fact, i just redeem some MS Points and bought some games online.
3) Fable III currently does not work with my modded XBOX with the Kinect Dashboard…tried the disc once…So far, not banned.
But just a reminder, I NEVER PLAY BACKUP DISC ONLINE. Only for browsing and downloading.
AP 2.5 has already been broken and it’s a matter of time before all the ISO images are patched and distributed….:)

1. Reason your thumbdrive does not work, is because you have to FORMAT it completely. Plug it in to your 360 and from the SystemS>Memory, format so that your 360 can use it.
2. Maybe you have the stealth firmware and have stealth patched all your games. In that case, even if you play backup games online, it will not be able to detect it.
3. Maybe your 360 uses an old Samsung DVD drive which does NOT support the AP 2.5 checks. In that case you’re really lucky! Enjoy Fable 3 and AC Brotherhood.

Older backup games prior to Fable 3 will work just fine. Newer games like Fable 3, AC Brotherhood and NFS: Hot Pursuit won’t work. For full list of games visit http://www.gamersworldbd.com/2010/11/list-of-xbox-360-games-with-ap-2-5.html
Those games won’t work unless a new mod/firmware iextreme LT+ comes out.

Sorry for all the confusion. Your Samsung drive supports AP 2.5 and so you can’t (yet) play AP 2.5 games as I mentioned above.
You can play older backups, however, new games won’t work until the new firmware lt+ releases.
I’m not exactly sure whether Kinect games have AP 2.5 If you give me a list of Kinect games you’re waiting to play, I’ll check them out.
Okay, I’ve checked one Kinect game: Kinectimals that will work with your flashed Samsung drive.

Samsung Drives with some Hitachi ones DO NOT have AP 2.5.
Newer Drives like BenQ (LiteOn) have this and c4eva, first and first releasing LITEON LT+ as soon as possible, and LT+ for Slim consoles will come later (November 21 update).

Nope, don’t have a Kinect yet. But I remember people having luck with Kinectimals. Plus, the release in question didn’t have the AP 2.5 tag in its description so I figured it doesn’t have AP 2.5 Most releases with AP 2.5 list AP 2.5 in its description, or atleast users complain in the comments section. Found no such comments for Kinectimals. But it gives error “Mixed Media Disk” to some which may be due to improper burning. As you know Ap 2.5 games give “Disk Unreadable Error”. But I’m not 100% sure.

Hi,
I have updated new dashboard from live.
Also did the LT from gamesources.
I am able to play AS & HP but when i insert fable 3, a black screen appear and no response, but the console didn’t freez, cus i can access guide menu.
I have used live several time not banned yet.
So guess my console got stealth mod.
But my problem is I cant play Fable 3.
I can install the full disk, got new LT, but still its not working.
Kindly help me on this, how can i play Fable 3.
Or is it possible to switch back to previous dashboard to play fable 3 later can update again kinnect dashboard.

Hope you could help me out. I already have a modded Xbox, I’m not sure about the version of the firmware though. I am soooo eager to buy a Kinect but people tell me that it won’t work with a modded Xbox. Is this true or do I simply have to update to the latest Kinect dashboard? Do I need to update to the latest firmware too just so I can use Kinect?
Will wait for your response before I buy Kinect.

By “modded” do you mean a hardware mod or just a flashed DVD drive? Which is your one? Elite or Slim? If you have the BenQ or Liteon DVD drive in your Xbox 360 just flash it to LT+ firmware, update to Kinect dashboard and you’ll be able to play Kinect games.

It’s a flashed DVD drive. I have the slim Xbox. Is there a way to flash it to LT+firmware thru the USB port of Xbox without having to attach the DVD drive via SATA to my PC?

Lt+ for Xbox 360 Slim hasn’t been released yet. It will be released soon. Also, take it to a shop such as Game Source at Bashundhara City when the flashed firmware comes out. I recommend you not to flash it at home.

AP 2.5 disc not be patched with abgx360 to work on the latest LT+ firmware. Fable 3 wasn’t patched when it was released in BD market cause fable 3 was released before both kinect dashboard and LT+. So just patch your fable 3 and it should work.

Hi. I have a xbox 360 slim that is modded. Now, I can’t play new games. So, I need an update. But the staff, who sold the console to me said that I must not update otherwise I will not be able to play backup games. So the question is, after the update, do I still be able to play backup games? Do I need to mod it again? Is there any xbox slim require re-mod after the update? I’m a newbie, waiting for help and answer.

Hi, I just bought a new Kinect, thinking to play it on my brother-in-law’s Xbox 360 Arcade.
However, when I put the Kinect Adventure disc in, it asks me to update.
I am not sure what to do as according to my brother-in-law, he didn’t modify the Xbox before. But he has been playing pirated games on the Xbox all the while. Also, he never goes online.
So erm. What should I do? I hope to be able to play the kinect.
Should I manually update the Xbox? Or is there anyway to check if the Xbox is already modded before my brother-in-law bought it? Or is there anything else that I need to take note of?
Also, if I follow the manual update method in this blog post, which update should I follow? The update link posted in this blogpost? or the latest update from xbox website?
The current version of my Xbox is 2.0.8955.0
and I noticed that I only have 83MB free out of the 256MB memory that I have.
Note: I am a beginner.
Would appreciate your help in guiding me to play Kinect!

I have dashboard 2.014699.0 on my modded xbox360. My kinect does not work as it states that a system update is required. I followed these instructions hoping to get my kinect working. I formatted my memory stick to FAT 32 and extracted the 2 files. i then plugged the memory stick into the xbox360 and turned it on and no update happened i just got the E71 error. Unplugged the memory stick and everything is as before with no avatars and no kinect support. Any ideas on how to get the kinect working
