Ex-Sony Boss: Xbox And PlayStation Could Join Forces In The Future
Dream come true, ain’t it? Sony and Microsoft joining forces to make the ultimate gaming console. And you won’t have to wait too long either.
Ex-Sony Computer Entertainment deputy president and ex SCEE worldwide president David Reeves believe that this could happen within the next 15 years. David Reeves is currently the COO of Capcom.
His reasoning behind this is the enormous cost of developing next-gen hardware:
“When you’re on the first-party side, you realise how really, really expensive it is to develop a platform. Whether it’s PS3, or Xbox 360 or even Wii, they cost millions – maybe not billions, but absolutely millions. You don’t know when to put that stake in the ground of technology and move on. You know, say ‘that’s enough’.
“Eventually, it may just become so expensive to develop [their consoles] that Microsoft and Sony say, ‘Okay, let’s get together.’ I’d say it’s between 10 and 15 years away. That’s how long I think it will take. I don’t think it will be the next console cycle, but probably the next cycle after that, where you might have something platform-agnostic.
“But it might be different players, of course. It might be Google getting together with, dare I say, Microsoft, or Google with somebody else.”

yaaa man more trouble for us pirates…….We’ll need a LT+ Jailbreak to get out of this………And i think within the arrival of PS4 or Xbox 720 or PS-X4 the price of legit games in bd will drop severely…. 😮 😮

Sony dont need a self destructing company at their side.Sony will initiate world domination in the next generation by surpassing ps2 success while micro$oft and nintendo play with dust 😆

hmm..we gamers dont want a monopoly do we? i mean come on, the competition makes the companies lower the price..they must also maintain quality to exist..so i beleive this is not a good idea at all 😯

yapppppppppp x360assassin said the most intelligent thing…if theres no competition then theres nothing to worry about…..and the price tags will remain heavy with huge #….so non of us want this to happen…n excpt MS and Sony theres no 1 to compete in the game consoles bizzz……….. 😕 😐 😐

nice bro! you can be a great gaming analyst if u try but the thing is simple what goes within your interest is always the best thing go for.Biology must be interesting to you that you can make a good doctor one day 😳 To say the truth i really dont like biology thats why i didnt take it in O levels and even now in alevels i didnt take it 🙄
