Around 12.5 Million Xbox Live Gold Subscribers, “Very Large Business” For Microsoft

Microsoft revealed that 50% of the 25 million Xbox Live members are actually Gold subscribers. That puts the figure at around 12.5 million paying subscribers. Each Gold member pays around $60 annually and it doesn’t take long to figure out the kind of revenue it pulls in each year.

Dennis Durkin, head of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business has said that “it’s a very large business” for Microsoft and its partners.

According to IGN, US Gold members spend more than three hours a day on average via Xbox Live. It is also known that the service now rakes in over $1 billion per annum, with other digital transactions are bringing in even more big bucks.
