Mandatory Xbox Live Dashboard Update Coming Jan 19, Re-enables “Boot To Disc”
Microsoft is to release a mandatory Xbox 360 dashboard update this week that will introduce a few minor changes to your experience.
On Wednesday, January 19, an update will re-enable the ‘Boot to Disc’ option

[Update] If you have a modded 360, best to stay away from this update at the moment.
Easy guys. Its a normal update, no need to be alarmed. If you’ve got the game installed to HDD, it’ll let you play from the disc. FYI All XBL dashboard updates are mandatory if you wanna be connected online.

well apparently it activates AP2.5 on Halo reach Black ops n MW2 so ur lookin to go online with these games… then u gotta patch the iso n burn ur own back-ups…

UPDATE: Guys dont update and stay away from live cuz it flags your console for a ban reminiscent to the kinect update and introduces ap 2.5 on other games like pagla07 mentioned. There is also problem of not booting a lot of non ap 2.5 games. It looks like we gotta flash again cuz this update just messes up the flash.

Hmmm … I’m gonna go ahead and update my un-modded console (not that I expect anything to go wrong with it). As for modded consoles, best to stay away from this update at the moment.

Another thing – Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 has been affected at the moment. I’m not sure yet, but you won’t need to flash your console if you have LT+. But you will need to patch BO and MW2 through abgx to run them though cause it gives the “Disc Unreadable Error”.

Halo Reach may also be affected. Looks like this update enables the AP 2.5 checks on previous games that didn’t have it.

Update: today its the happiest day on the ps3 scene whereas its a sad day in the other side aka xbox scene. No more jailbreaks cuz the final version of custom firmware is running with psn support and future support is there cuz of the master key. On the other side M$ has introduced a new kernal which has on the fly ap 2.5 checks not just specific games. This needs a new firmware to bypass the new kernal. I wont disclose the whole news but if the latest developments are to be beleived the future looks gloomy for xbox at least it will keep the pirates at bay for a while.

‘Sup guys, um back. Damn exams kept me from researchin da game world.
For any one who is looking to buy a PS3, i suggest you wait a couple more weeks, at least until the end of february coz it seems that the USB Jailbreak is dying out. Now you can mod ur PS3, play PSN on it plus backup games with the new CUSTOM FIRMWARES(CFW) that are being released from a few days back for the 3.55 firmware.
The concept of the CFW is pretty simple actually. U see the PS3 has two security levels, LV1 and LV2. Wat the JB usb did was dump both of em.
Now, as the master key was released a few days ago, Geohot(praise be to him) has started of the CFW mods with his own firmware. This was only LV1 accesible and could run only signed PKGs.
Two days later a spanish dude named Waninkoko released another firmware where you could play backup games with backup managers lyk MultiMan and Rogero. But there was something wrong with the tools he used or sumthin and caused the LV2 hack to go wrong and brick old 60gb ps3s. Hundreds of PS3s got bricked tryin this out.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR THE BRICK’d PS3s
A day after that, another dude named Wutangrza released another CFW, and this didnt crash any PS3, but didnt have BMs(backup managers). A few hours after this was released, KMEAW(or sumthin) released a PKG that would fill in syscalls in LV2 and enabled backup managers in the wutangrza cfw.
Last night, KMEAW released his own CFW, and at the moment, it seems the most least notable bcoz of its difficult installations.
So, atm, the best combo of CFWs are a base CFW of Wutangrza’s with Geohots on top to enable BMs with KMEAW’s LV2 PKG.
So, any1 lukin to buy a PS3, wait for the CFW releases to be stable, and you may be rewarded as these hacks require no cash, just a 1gb pendrive, an internet connection and patience to customize the Original Firmware(OFW) to the CFW.
Tested the method i mentiond in last line. Works great, but i’ll still wait a little longer before i keep this.
Used recover mode to come back to the OFW

I need help with my Xbox a bit – i got it last june and i’m pretty sure it’s got the nBenQ dvd drive … i’m waiting for my exams to end before i get my hands on nfs shift n assassin’s creed brotherhood. i’m not exactly sure what to do about the kinect dashboard update and the AP 2.5 checks on these games. my console was modded at Plug n Play in Rifles Square, so i dunno whether I should flash my console again there or someplace else. I’d be really glad if any of u can help me out here, since i dnt have a clue what i’m supposed to do! 😛

Of all the three platforms i use(PC,xbox360,PS3), PC is the most trouble free platform.I don’t have to mod it every year like 360 or buy games for 5000tk.I hope a stable custom firmware for ps3 comes very soon. cuz this year is full of PS3 exclusives.

Plus if you wanna play COD Black Ops only so desperately, you can patch it or buy an original copy.
Here are some tips,tricks and fixes courtesy of Xbo360iso
1. Yes it is safe to update but only if you are willing to wait to play MW2, Black Ops, and Halo Reach.
2. If you are on LT+ and you put in one of those games dont worry you are still safe but i wouldn’t just to be safe, also do not leave the game in more than 3 minutes has been reported to cause flag.
3. if you put in one of those games and your firmware is under LT+ then i can only say pray if you were flagged.
4. Those are the only games that i know of that are unplayable intill there is a ap2.5 patch for them. So yes every ap2.5 game will work, i dont know if microsoft will release updates for older games to have ap2.5
5. yes original disks will work fine.

Hey bro, welcome to Gamersworldbd. Sorry for the late reply, your comment got lost. Anyway, best to take your console to Game Source at Bashundhara City and tell them to flash your console with LT+ firmware. After that, update to Kinect Dashboard and you should be able to play AP 2.5 games that are patched (most games sold nowadays are patched). However, as this post mentions, there is no mod/flash for this Jan 19 update yet.

Just buy a double layer disc and patch your COD Black Ops and every game sold are patched in the shop, its the same damn AP 2.5 , just three games are affected among them we rarely play 2 games (halo reach and mw2). The updates introduces on the fly ap 2.5 so the list of those games will grow from time to time. The best bet is to stay offline until new firmware releases. And remember this update disables older firmware and messes up the lt+ flash 👿 if u have updated say goodbye to ur future in xbox live.

bro GTA ELC doesn’t have very good multiplayer options. I suggest you to buy GTA 4 cause it has lot of multiplayer games like bomb da base, cops and crocks , gta race , car jack city , hangman’s NOOSE , deal breaker and a lot other…while GTA ELC only contents free mode and team death match and death match…not to mention GTA 4 includes death matches and free mode too.

Yes, there’s a way and you must have a modded/flashed 360 for it. and since you have one I’m quite sure you can do it on your own. So, I ain’t explaining it for you to get it across.

You can get the kmeaw cfw from

Also download the 3.55 original firmware from

They are both one file. Then put the OFW on a USB pendrive with fat32. Make a folder called “PS3?, then in that folder make another one called “UPDATE”, in That folder put the OFW that u downloaded. Turn off ps3.
Hold down power button until u hear the 3rd beep. It will turn off automatically. Then hold power button again. Hold till u hear the 4th beep. Ur in recovery mode. Go all the way down where it say update. Then follow on screen instructions. Make sure USB drive is in Before u do all this.
After you install the 3.55 OFW, put the kmeaw CFW in the same pendrive after formatting it to a fat32. Install it through recovery mode again and then download the latest MultiMan from the site PS3hacks.
That shud do it. Check this link out for more instructions.

here’s how you do it, but first of all, I’ll like to warn you that I didn’t do it, I just found it from a site and i’m giving you the instruction, but I can’t help you further cause I didn’t do it.
THINGS YOU NEED:
1. USB Flash Drive 1GB+ (or some other means to connect to your xbox HDD)
2. Xbox hard drive
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Plug your USB Flash Drive into your Xbox 360 and go to System Settings -> Memory -> USB Stick -> Configure Now
2. After the usb is configured to be an xbox hard drive, go to Hard Drive -> Themes, and copy or move one of your themes onto your usb stick. Do the same for a Gamer Picture.
3. Now plug your usb stick into your computer and open USB Reader. Click on File -> Open Device -> Content -> 000000000000 -> FFFE07D1 -> 0030000 (themes) and 00020000 (gamer pics)
4. Unzip the contents. Copy all of your themes into your themes folder (00030000) in the USB Reader program and all of your gamer pics into your gamer pics folder (00020000).
5. Exit USB Reader and unplug your usb stick. Plug it into your xbox 360. Move all of your recently downloaded themes and gamer pics onto your Xbox Hard Drive (it is easier to use the Transfer Content feature, by pressing Y while the Memory Stick is open).
6. Enjoy your free premium themes and gamerpics 🙂

the i faced is qubee nat issues it plagued my online gaming experience and couldnt play with xlivnt. I think u use banglalion what does ur connection show in ur xbox 360 open/moderate/strict. Mine is strict btw 👿

Alan Wake was a pre Ap 2.5 game wasn’t it? Are you sure you burned it properly? Use a good media such as Verbatim or Mitsubishi. Also, burn at 2x – 2.4x speed. And run the ISO/img through ABGX just to be sure.

maybe your not doing it correctly..
first format your pendrive in fat32. Then extract the file and you’ll get the file “$systemupdate” copy it to your pendrive and insert on your xbox 360 and restart your console.

i wont try them cuz they are highly unreliable i am waiting for the rebug untethered firmware 3.55 port. I have heard the first generation ps3 specially the 60gb model is getting bricked. I own the second generation 40gb and i think u have a 3rd generation slim so u should be fine but take the risk at ur own will i wont recommend anyone for doing custom firmware at the moment. Judging by earlier comments on this thread TheGamingOtaku must have installed custom firmware on his ps3 u sud talk with him for more info.

I exactly don’t know the possible reasons behind it. It could happen due to numerous initial problems while patching.
Try using these steps:
A) Update to the latest version of ABGX360
B) Set your Autofix threshold to level 3 – which is autofix if stealth passes but fails verification
C) or try manually patching the ISO
if none these turn out the be helpful, try searching for tutorials on patching from Abgx360(you can specifically search for Halo Reach) across the internet.

I am still using qubee and on MMORPGs i get a ping of 250 – 400 on europe servers and 300 – 400 on us servers. Dont know bout the console thing, but cant it be fixed by using a fixed IP. I heard from The Gaming Wiz that qubee gave him a fixed IP. Not sure about the price but its gotta be cheaper than getting a whole new connection. 😕 😕
Also, you need to buy a modem for the BTCL line if im correct.

bro ping times in btcl is around 150-300 on europe servers and about 350-500 in us servers
and you cannot connect to most players in multiplayer due to qubee nat issues which can only be fixed when qubee moves to ipv6 in future. And real ip doesnt fix this issues in qubee. TheGamingWiz currently has an open port on xbox live but not on the ps3 still its a lot of hassle without any guarantee that investing like him will work only on xbox live for everyone. Registration is 400Tk and Modem is 2500TK in btcl dont know if there are other costs and dont forget monthly costs are lower as well 😎

Yup, those ping times are about right. I used to get the same in World of Warcraft (I haven’t played in a long time – damn its addictive).

My only problem with BTCL ADSL connection is that uses telephone line. We all know how unreliable a telephone line really is. Also, do they guarantee 24/7 uptime? I’ve rarely had issues with Qubee. Also, is it dedicated if you get a 2 Mbps line? I’m eagerly waiting to know so keep us posted once you get the connection. 😀

no….telephone lines nowdays are quite reliable……and i asked the cus reprentativ abt that that he said there gna no prob….and rarely very rearely if u have any issue it would be fixed within 12 hours…

well…i have experience with BTCl…my cuz also uses 512kbps…and i played gta4, black ops ,splinter cell and a number of games with his connections…and i must say its impressive…..i noticed no lag….and its great…..

A representative of a company will always say that their’s is the best, dat doesnt necessarily mean there aren’t goin to be any problems. Im just sayin dat watch wat you buy, bcoz as BTCL has government rates, the rates could double anytime. Also i remember that the rates did double once, but they returned it to normal after a month bcoz of complains. (my uncle works in the BTCL branch in Kalyanpur) ❓
And another important matter is the bandwidth. Remember that BTCL has been around for a long time but qubee and banglalion has been here for almost a year (i think). Im pretty sure that they are hoping to put up dedicated game servers. That was in their slogan during both of their first campaigns. I hav the leaflet with me right now. 😮

the prices are expected to fall by 33.33% in 6 moths from now…it doesnt matter evn if they dont…..i read it in the newspaper…..and if BTCl increases price everyone increases price, cuz they themselves are subscribed to BTCL servers……and the terms are quite identical to blion or qubee’s….and blion has put limits on all their packages…..so thats one of the other reasons to switch….in BTCL the fair usage policy states that u can download 16hours out of 24 hours in a day……….

thnx..and a bit info on the stealth patching..can i just patch the discs(PLAYBOX) we can buy here in BD?? i have a dual layer dvd burner..can i burn on PLAYBOX disc again(of course with the stealth patched ISO)? or do i need to get a blank one??
one of my frnd had recently flashed his console and the shop keeper told him that he can play on LIVE as long as his hard disk is removed..i thought it was the NAND chip that mattered..am i wrong? does removing hard disk have any impact on the chances of banning?

I guess you should check out the 1 month free trial before getting a paid subscription, and just a heads up, always use stealth patched games to avoid getting banned from XBL. 🙂

you can’t be banned if you never went on live, unless you tried to boot AP 2.5 games on your un LT+ed console. BTW where do you live? Anyway get your console LT+ed and hit xbox live. Games we play are GTA 4, GTA EFLC, ASSASSIN’S CREED BH, and we used to play COD BO but not after this 19 january update. 👿 ..I personally used to play NFS HP and SvR 11 but not anymore cause you need a code to activate online for NFS HP and SvR 11 and that code comes with only the original copy of the game, but you can still buy the codes for 800 MS points from XBL, which I will do.

I have a PAL and your correct I couldn’t play the market copy of FIFA WC SA and NFS HP (2010) and also MOF but I was able to play FIFA11, my only option to play some EA games are to download the game or buy a custom copy from Nadim Electronics for tk500. 🙁

Good chance he has been flagged, though check with xval to be sure. Even xval isn’t accurate, mind though. Same thing happened to me. I put in Fable 3 just when AP 2.5 first came out, and I got that error. Although I didn’t check with xval, but I’m pretty sure my console has been banned as my gamer profile doesn’t show up on the unmodded 360. Also, I too got the E65 error while trying to update the Kinect Dashboard. A restart fixed that.

when i bought my xbox from gamesource they first flashed my xbox then updated it to the kinect dashboard. And as that xbox was flashed after the dirty disk error in kinect dashboard its confirmed that its flagged and should keep minimum from xbox live.

they dont list it in their package list but they said they have the 2mbps package. Dont know more about that at the moment. I dont know if their internet is dedicated but i heard it depends on the area and the phone line quality for the speed. And as their TOS says regarding that “Service is on best effort basis i.e. maximum limit of the mentioned bandwidth is not ensured at all times.” But i can only say more after using it and basically u will get moderate nat and type 2 on xbox live and psn respectively. But i think tweaking the adsl modem vast settings could make it open and type 1

they gave me a printout copy of their TOS to me and it states that general user wont be provided with a static ip but only corporate users for 50tk or something like that. And you did say that they said they will provide you with real ip. I am confused here can you clear up this confusion ❓ 😕

i really dont know why you guys go to those shops when there are top of the line stores like gamesource on the same bay 😯 Just for an example i bought my xbox 360 250gb hard disk from gamesource for 6500TK with a free game whereas ur exclusive game zone asked me 7000TK without any free game and the funniest part is exclusive game zone worked as a broker and brought that hard disk from game source 😆 😆 😆

About the line being dedicated or not – I mostly download throughout the whole night (leave my download server on), so if they can provide at least full 2 Mbps during the night and perhaps 1.5 Mbps during the day, I’ll be happy.

=> DMI and SS patched succesfully

Purpose of NAND is to store everything you have played on your 360 and transfer it to MS’s servers when you connect to XBL. That’s how the ban occurs, when it reports that you have played something you shouldn’t (at least not without LT+ 😀 )

Which Splinter Cell are you taking about because it is one of my oldest and most favourite game series.
Nothing comes close to the first Splinter Cell and I’ve fond memories of it still. The latest was a bit too focused on action and less on stealth. Does anyone miss memorizing guard patrol routes and taking them out?

That’s wrong info, please verify your sources least someone gets banned. As I’ve said before the purpose of NAND is to store everything you have played on your 360 and transfer it to MS’s servers when you connect to XBL.
It’s accepted that the 360 logs your activity while offline, and then sends it in. So, it’s not safe to play non stealth patched games even when offline.

NAND chip is separate. No matter how much you format ur old HDD, get a new HDD, new gamertag, there is still the possibility of getting banned. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. 😐

gamertag isnt affected [except rare scenarios] cuz its the console which is affected only. As you said that ur console got the dirt disk ap 2.5 breach ur flagged. There are people in bd who can uncorrupt a ban and if ur banned someday just unban ur console i.e similar to flashing. Check the souce link for more on that below.

I have no idea whether my games are stealth patched or not, I just go on live and play em. All of my games are PlayBox games and just RDR and NFS HP is burned copy, still bought from market.

check this:
“Instructions:
1. Turn on the xbox 360.
2. When you get to the home screen there will be no profiles found. That’s because you removed your hard drive/memory card which contained all your profiles. Easy to understand =).
3. Now go to system settings.
4. Go to Network Settings.
5. Click Test Xbox Live Connection
6. Start connection and wait for it to finish.
7. When it is done you should get a message saying to update your system. Here is another important thing you need to do DO NOT UPDATE!!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT UPDATE YOUR SYSMTE!! Just click No, don’t update.
8. You should get a test connection failed message. Just click cancel.
9. After that click Y and you should get a list of numbers or codes.
Check your code under the letter Z
It should say Z: “whatever the code is”
Here are the codes to determine if your console has been banned.
Z: 8015 – 1002 means you have not been flagged yet. Hurray but still be cautious when playing online.
If it shows something other than that like
Z: 8015 – 190D, that means that you console has been flagged or banned. Sorry guys =(.”

at first i didnt get u but it took a while anyway i tried port forwarding and other stuffs but it still shows strict nat and it doesnt support upnp 🙁 the btcl modem supports upnp afaik so it wont be a problem in btcl 😎

No open NAT on PS3. Also, as I mentioned on another comment, AC:B on 360 takes a long time to find a match.

Ah that explains it then. I tried Forza 3 and had no problem whatsoever (took around 15 sec to join a match). Must be because too few people are playing ACB? My PS3 shows strict NAT and I first got ACB on that and so I thought it was a PS3 NAT issue. Btw, average matches take 5-10 mins to find.
On the other hand, it’s wrong to assume that you won’t be able to join games with strict nat, you can. But the other person must have open nat.

definitely you can play with strict NAT but very few games like GTA 4. Maybe it’ll take you half an hour to find a match in AC:B, moreover you can’t join XBL parties. :twisted:. It takes me about the same time to find a match in AC:B so whenever I find one I just select rematch after the match and play with the same group everyone in the group does the same except for 1 or 2 people.

I think you guys can get an open NAT (type 2 or 1) or qubee.
Dont hav the PS3 wid me right now, so i cant try it out. Any1 who wants to have a go, feel free, i’ll start the tutorial right here.
1. Get a qubee fixed ip first. THIS IS IMPORTANT
First, check with your PC on http://192.168.3.1/admin
password W1m@xm0deM
and go to http://192.168.3.1/admin/status_internet.html
Note your ip address and everything else, write it down
Also after you get your fixed ip, make sure that everything is set by choosing Fixed ip in http://192.168.3.1/admin/advanced_internet_account.html
2. Check what your NAT type is, most probably type 3, from ur PS3, XMB>Settings>Internet Connection Test.
3.Now visit your XMB>Internet Connection Settings
From here most of the settings can simply be passed through with default settings. There are two areas, however, that you have to change. The first is choosing a Custom address setting (instead of Easy).
4. From here you should choose Manual IP address setting.
5. Here, put in the following
IP Address —– your fixed ip
Subnet Mask —– usually 255.255.255.__0
Default Router — check the ip you use to access the modem, its usually 192.168.3.1 (mine) or 192.168.1.1 (the one gamingwiz gave, i thnk)
Primary DNS —- xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Secondary DNS — xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
you get the dns from the notes you wrote down.
6. Once you have all of the settings input, press X to save them. Your settings will change and the PS3 will offer to perform an Internet Connection Test for you. If you let it do the test now chances are you will still get a Type 3 NAT connection. Don’t fret little bear, we still have one more step.
7. Now we have to open the following ports
TCP ::: 80, 443, 5223
UDP ::: 5223, 3478, 3479, 3658.
8. To do this, go to http://192.168.3.1/admin/advanced_nat_forwarding.html
and forward these ports.
example
Protocol__TCP, Public Port___80, Local IP address____192.xxx.xxx.xxx Activated (marked).
9. Once you have done all these things, its a good idea to unplug the modem and turn it off for five minutes.
After wards, if you did everything correctly, perform an internet connection test and find out.

I did everything – port forwarding/setting up dmz/upnp. Nothing works (for PS3) because my netgear router has to connect through Qubee’s modem and that is utter crap. Qubee’s modem doesn’t work in bridge mode.
