The Last of Us Biggest Launch of 2013, Free Witcher 3 DLCs, Next Gen Fifa 14 Not Hitting PC And Call of Duty Ghosts

Sales numbers are in. The Last of Us has sold 1.3 million copies in its opening week. That makes it the biggest launch in 2013.

You know that CD Projekt Red, the developers of the Witcher 3, just loves PC gamers? They love us so much that the PC version of Witcher 3 will be absolutely DRM free and we will get all the updates and DLCs for free. Speaking in an interview, CD Projekt head Marcin Iwinski said, “definitely all the DLCs and updates will be free”

It will also be free on consoles, if Sony/Microsoft allows it.

Assassin’s Creed 4 contains an easter egg. The secret can be found in the game world and possibly points to another Ubisoft game.

Sorry PC gamers. Looks like we won’t be getting the next gen version of Fifa 14. Console gamers can enjoy the next gen updates of Fifa 14’s Ignite Engine. But we PC gamers have to do with an inferior current gen version. The reason? EA thinks that the majority of PC gamers do not have a PC powerful enough to run it.

Speaking in an interview, EA Sports executive vice president Andrew Wilson said “Even though there were some PCs on the marketplace that could run that engine, the lion’s share of PCs on the marketplace could not.”

“The majority of the gamer base that was playing the game on PC did not have a PC spec that would work with that.”

Lastly, the development of next gen AI for Call of Duty Ghosts is going slower than expected. The culprit? A lack of the actual next gen consoles to work on.

Speaking in an interview, Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin said, “We need some hardware, some finished hardware, before we can really expand”.

He said that the AI development is going “Slower than some of the graphics, to be honest, just because we don’t have final hardware yet.”

Hmmmm, I always thought the AI in Call of Duty games are practically non existent. I mean, you don’t need the power of the PS4/Xbox One to program NPCs that just run at you waiting to get shot. Or maybe I could be mistaken.
