Reader Question: Where To Buy Original PS3 and Xbox 360 Games in Bangladesh
This is the question on the minds of many Gamersworldbd readers. I received such a question in my inbox:
Hi,
I want to know where I can buy original PS3 games in Bangladesh. The place I know of (SOF) doesn’t carry all the games I want.

Since the PS3 can’t be modded yet (or can it?) many Bangladeshi gamers have to resort to buying high priced original games. Xbox 360 gamers are lucky though since readily modded 360’s are sold in Bangladesh. However, those (like me) who play online over Xbox Live have to face the same dilemma.
Fortunately, a number of shops in Dhaka now carry original PS3 titles (don’t know about outside Dhaka, if you do, please let me know in the comments below). Here are some methods you can try to buy original PS3 and Xbox 360 games from Bangladesh.
1. Check out the shops in Bashundhara City Shopping Mall. The CD shops there not only sell original games but consoles as well. They can also fix your console. You can also try out other big name shopping centers, such as Eastern Plaza, Rifles Square, etc.
Prices vary from Tk 4,000 to 6,000 and some newer games are not readily available. In that case, you can instruct the shopkeeper to import the game for you (SOF, UAE Moitry Complex, Banani has this service). But that may take a long time, sometimes more than 2 months.

2. Tell your relatives/friends to bring it for you: If any of your relatives or friends live abroad, you can always tell them to bring the game for you. Make sure they get the correct region (NTSC/PAL).
3. Order online: If you have an international credit card, then you can order original PS3 and Xbox 360 games online, even pre-order it. Collector’s edition games are not available anywhere in Bangladesh, and if you want to spend extra money, you can always get them online.
One online store that I use and recommend is Play Asia. They even have free shipping to Bangladesh. You can check my full review of Play Asia.
Another thing you can do is order from Amazon. Amazon has virtually every game available and you can save money by buying used games. Most of the time I buy from Amazon.
But the problem with Amazon is that they do not ship to Bangladesh. For that you need to use a mail forwarding service, a company which will receive mail on your behalf and send them to you. One mail forwarding service that I have been using for over a year and recommend is MyUSABox.
Once you have signed up with MyUSABox, they give you a US address which you can use to order goods online. They then ship it to you via parcel (FedEx, DHL, UPS). Shipping charges for a single game is around US$ 33.
4. [Update] Order from Steam: You can’t buy Xbox 360 and PS3 games from Steam.
But it’s a haven for PC gamers. Valve’s online store is really easy to use and boasts a staggering number of PC games to download, plus the latest releases can be pre-ordered.
The steam desktop client is really awesome and has achievements, friend lists, etc. Most importantly, Valve runs special sales (keep an eye out for year-end sales) with up to 50% off.

i think ordering online is the best option for original ps3 games.& play asia is the best as they offer free shipping to bd.other ways are little bit complicated.as u may not find the game u r looking 4 in those gaming shops in dhaka.& u have to be lucky to apply the 2nd method ! but in this case,i’m very lucky,cus i’ve got a lot of relatives who lives abroad ! & most of them lives in USA !

Ordering online is the best and I always order from Amazon. The Amazon/MyUSABox option might sound difficult buts its really easy once you have it set up. Plus, I subscribe to 8 different US magazines so I need to use it.

I agree guys totally, I ordered FF13 from play asia for ages ago after 1,5 month nothing came while I check post office of Dhaka and Baridhara I said normal… Better use SOF or Dragon Multimedya ( Kemal Atatürk Avenue ) or some Bushundra Markets…

Original games cost somewhere around Tk 3,000 – Tk 5,000. I can’t be exactly sure. Don’t know about the price of elite 360 in Bangladesh, but it sells for around $300 (Tk 21,000) in USA. Expect to pay somewhere around Tk 30,000 in Bangladesh but this is purely a guess on my part.

i m a complete console n00b & recently bought an xbox360 mw2 special edition. its bought from uk (pal) manufacturing date is 2009-09-07 & has a liteon dvdrom. can anyone tell me if this can be modded? also what mod is used in bd? is cygnos360 mod available? is there a mod to play both ntsc & pal games? what would be the most reliable place to go for modding?

while playing my xbox60 4 red colour flash light turned on. After the red light turned on i tried to connect my xbox360 with my tv through HDMI cable but the Display is not coming.
