More Xbox 360 Gamers Play Online Than PS3 Users

Despite having to pay for Xbox Live, more Xbox 360 users play online than their PS3 counterpart.

That’s according to research firm Nielsen’s latest game industry survey which found that Xbox 360 users spend 62 percent of their console time on games — with their playtime evenly split between online and offline play. PlayStation 3 users spend a little more than half of their console time doing things other than gaming — and when they play, it’s “relatively more” offline versus online play than its rival.

Around 54% of Xbox 360 users play online versus 46% of PS3 gamers.

Microsoft had previously reported that around 12.5 million Xbox Live users are paying Gold subscribers (which stand at half of total Xbox Live users).

  1. thats because you get one month free gold subscription everytime u make a new account… so this is jus a result of microsoft not having any type of free online gaming service for its users.
